This is a slightly smaller device than the artificial heart. It is situated directly under the artificial heart, connected to it, and receives the extracted CO₂ from Alexandra’s bloodstream. It uses energy from Alexandra’s power supply and water to perform a process similar to photosynthesis, turning the CO₂ and water back into pure oxygen and glucose. The glucose is then directed to the food tank, and the oxygen is sent back into the air tank.

Due to the energy requirements and resulting heat, only a portion of the extracted CO₂ can be recycled. The remainder must be expelled and excreted during the maintenance process. This also means Alexandra’s oxygen tank must be regularly refilled, preventing the entire system from being completely self-sufficient.
